Let's Dive Right In: Why Engagement Photos Matter

Are engagement photos important? Do they suit everyone? The answer is simple: not necessarily. But what happens when you decide to go all in and book one?

So many thoughts run through your head:

  • Yes, I want couple photos of us.

  • But what should I wear?

  • I'm awkward in front of the camera.

  • I don't know how to plan for it.

  • We've never had professional photos taken before.

  • I'm not sure where to go.

If these thoughts cross your mind, you're not alone; it's a common experience for nearly every couple. But that's where I come in as your guide. I'm here to peel back the layers and discover who you are as a couple. I want to hear your story, how you met, what you adore about each other, the unique facts of your relationship, and the activities you both enjoy. All these details plant seeds in my creative brain, helping me come up with session ideas that truly reflect you, making your engagement photos feel like you.

Let's talk about posing for photos. As Will Ferrell once famously quipped, "I don't know what to do with my hands." Well, guess what? You don't have to know; I'll guide you. About 99% of the time, I leave my pride behind and demonstrate what I'd like you to do. Yes, I may look a bit eccentric, but my goal is to get those perfect shots. My style blends both traditional posing and prompted moments, resulting in beautiful classic photos, cinematic close-ups, and tender moments you’ll love. Add to that some action-based and movement-based posing, and you won't have to worry about what your hands are doing because I'll provide you with natural prompts. This is where your personalities shine through. So, when you receive your engagement photo gallery, you'll find a mix of images that beautifully tell your story and some where grandma can see your smiling faces.

And Syracuse offers numerous breathtaking locations within driving distance, while we can also fly to places rich in history, tropical vibes, stunning landscapes, or tranquil serenity that your hearts wants to explore.

With me as your engagement photographer, you'll have a trusted photography expert by your side, someone who genuinely cares about who you are and your story. This is why adding engagement photos to your wedding photography package is not only important but also a chance to see your lives as a couple from an outsider's perspective. I notice the special things that make your connection unique and can retell them through photos. These are moments you can share with each other, reminisce with friends, or proudly display on your walls. This period in your life, when you're someones fiancé, its such a short chapter. It's a time filled with excitement, planning, and dreams of your life together. Is it stressful? Well, yes, of course, because there are a million questions and things to do, but it's also the first time you get to walk down that path with your person. As chaotic as this time may be, it goes by quickly.

So if I haven’t sold you on the idea of getting engagement photos yet. How about this….honestly they are pretty fun! Have a ‘drink’ before hand if you want, hell, have a drink during your session too, and enjoy the ride. I’ve never talked to anyone that said, “We have too many photos of ourselves being in love.”
